Tool up week

I bought two Husky workbenches from Home Depot. The 46-inch model, $548 each. They’re olive green, they’re steel, and they match the van well enough that it looks intentional.

It was intentional.

What I needed

A mobile workspace that fits in a one-car driveway and doesn’t take up the inside of the van. Something I can roll into the garage when it rains. Drawers for the tools I’m accumulating faster than I expected.

Husky makes these in black, red, and this particular green. I measured the van’s paint against the floor model with my phone’s color picker. Close enough.

The rest of the kit

A filament dryer for the 3D printers at the makerspace. Turns out ASA hates moisture and Colorado’s humidity changes daily. A set of trim tools for prying factory panels without snapping the plastic clips. A tape measure that lives in the van now.

And about a dozen small things I didn’t know I needed until I needed them: a parts tray, a magnet for dropped screws, a second headlamp because the first one always dies mid-task.
